Fair Trade Manufacturing
All of our current products are solely sourced from MKS Exports, a Guaranteed Fair Trade Organization. MKS is based in Kolkata, India and creates beautiful handicraft and handloom products. Since 1997, it has been a member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). It has chosen the Fair Trade route to offer sustainable wages and steady incomes for artisans. As of today, it is giving support to 24 Producer Groups through which it is giving income generation opportunities to about 250 artisans.
- We are working with MKS because we share value of creating job opportunities for the economically weaker sections of society so as to enable them to lead a decent life.
- MKS wants to empower women and physically challenged people by creating job opportunities for them in a number of fields. In that respect, they want to stay focussed on sticking to the “Fair Trade” principles as have been outlined by the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO), which include, among others, payment of fair price to producers and minimum wage to artisans.
- MKS cares about the promotion of Fair Trade in India and abroad. To help traditional crafts stay competitive, they aim to constantly upgrade skills of their artisans and as well as product designs. Apart from upgrading technical skill of artisans, they also want to carry on training programs in financial matters and other social fields like fire safety, health care, etc.
- MKS doesn't employ people below 18 years of age anywhere in our activities. They don't discriminate in wages and working conditions on the basis of gender, caste, creed or religion. They ensure compliance of Green technology by MKS and as well as producer groups at all levels including production, packaging and shipment.
